With the many business and government organizations that now use open source solution software such as Linux, it’s becoming increasingly clear that price is not the only advantage such software holds. Free and open source software holds numerous other compelling advantages for businesses, some of them even more valuable than the software’s low price.
What is open source software? An open source solution includes software’s: this software is one whose source code is available for modification or enhancement by anyone. “Source code” is the part of software that most computer users don’t ever see; it’s the code computer programmers can manipulate to change how a piece of software, a “program” or “application” works. Programmers who have access to a computer program’s source code can improve that program by adding features to it or fixing parts that don’t always work correctly. Some of the advantages of the open source are: Cheaper than commercially marketed products:- According to studies, open source solution software collectively helps business owners save around $60 billion a year. This might seem unbelievable, but it’s not really surprising since these programs are developed to be accessible to anyone. For one thing, they’re usually offered for free and don’t require you to pay for any additional copy you download. Since many of these programs are created to work with almost any type of computer, they can also help you lengthen the life of your old hardware and avoid the need to replace them every now and then. Created by skillful and talented people. Large and well-established software companies have the financial capability to hire the best talent in the business to create their products. Because of this, many people opt to buy computer programs from these firms because they think they’ll get great value for their money by doing so. The fact that big companies hire experienced, fully trained and highly qualified people is true. But what consumers have to know is this: not all software developers care deeply about money. Sure, most of them do get a job to have a steady income and be able to financially support themselves and their family. This is why many software developers turn to open source solution products as an outlet for their ideas and creativity. By doing so, they won’t be confined by the rigid rules of the corporate world, and they’ll have the freedom to experiment and come up with high-quality programs. Highly reliable. More often than not they were worked by hundreds of people, which means there are numerous eyes that can monitor for the presence of bugs and many pairs of hands that can fix these defects within the shortest amount of time. Both of these factors lead to products that have excellent quality and helpful features and perform well most (if not all) of the time. Help you become more flexible. Since you’re not tied to a proprietary product, you don’t need to abide by a specific IT architecture that might require you to upgrade your software and even hardware often. Rather, you can mix and match your software and create a unique IT infrastructure that best suits your needs. There’s no need to fret since there’s a wide range of options in the market, so you only have to browse through them and pick one those that match your requirements and specifications. Can’t find anything you like? You can modify existing open sources software or hire someone who can do it for you. There are hosters that primarily serve SMBs and others that target enterprises. Others, offer only a few types of infrastructure services and are equipped with a low range of technical capabilities or position as full-service shops and can take on almost any kind of engagement. Today, we are going to compare 2 great companies, services, operations, procedures and what do they offer to us, so we can take advantage of these companies in order to create and set up our cloud infrastructure and develop any application. We cannot say that Digital Ocean is fighting AWS for the entire cloud computing business, but what we can say is that its actually is attracting a little portion of it. Digital Ocean Primary offer is to host small applications or developing environments to people who is looking for something affordable Developers is the niche that Digital Ocean is attracting a lot. Amazon Web Services The Giant in the cloud computing business, it provides a variety of servers, all of them with different specifications and characteristics, so you can create from the simplest application or website to the most complex and scalable project. Implement any IT solution to it and monitor its health with more than 30 tools that they offer in their panel. With AWS you’ll find a complete cloud platform ready for use for virtuallize any workload, from business applications, big data or building games, Amazon web services gives you access to the resources you need to create sophisticated, scalable applications of any size or shape. You’ll find a large selection of computational resources to your application, with support for I/O storage, and CPU intensive workloads, experimentation becomes easy and low risk with on-demand access to a wide range of hardware configurations and flexibility to evaluate and run virtually any technology or tool + your application can grow automatically as you need to change. Digital Ocean The new cloud hosting provider with headquarters in New York, launched in 2011 has simplified the creation of Linux instances to a simple click. Its technology as well has its service, has been recognized by a lot of people all around the globe. It provides a true IaaS platform and enables additional features to make it the easiest system to use overall. You can deploy any stack with some services already integrated in less than a minute with their called Droplets. Their most popular Linux distributions are (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian and Fedora), and with just one more click you can launch several applications like Ruby Apps, Node js Apps, LAMP stack, Docker, etc. Digital Ocean has the best pricing of all cloud providers. Their prices are very affordable and they don’t hit you with hidden charges for add-ons like more traffic and fixed IP addresses. So what should you consider to choose? From an expert view, we can tell you a few points in how to choose any type of instance, or Droplet in any of these two hosting environments: Disk space, RAM memory, Cores, Does it has SSD technology?,Bandwith, location of the server for latency, do they bill you hourly or monthly and what options do they give you to reduce costs. If you are using a cloud compute service, you likely use other types of cloud services. When evaluating compute services you should consider the provider’s ability to fulfill other hosting requirements you may have. Some other types of cloud services include.

That’s why we must be careful about how we treat this important tool for almost everyone. Maybe all of you don’t know the classic symptoms of a computer that is in trouble probably because we haven’t be careful with the installation of things downloaded from internet or just because our antivirus isn’t strong enough.

The speed of a website could mean everything for some visitors in your official webpage. Do you really want to take the risk to lose traffic and a possible lead just because your webpage is slows -enough to get away from it-? There are a lot of practices in the field of IT that can help you optimize the speed of your website. One of them is to use CDN. Content Delivery Network is a largely distributed system of servers that content data backups placed in several network points (a city, country, the world). This has the intention of maximizing the bandwidth for the clients’ data accessing. Let’s see this with an example of a personal favourite: Netflix has different ways to access from (webpage and app). In both cases Netflix has all the files in servers. But what would happen if there were just one copy of the movies/series’ files and one-hundred clients from all the country wanted to see the same movie at the same time? The result would be catastrophic because the displaying of the movie would be terribly slow. With CDN, Netflix has several copies of their movies/series in several server‘s points and so the clients from each state can access to the closest copy file without speed problems to watch something from Netflix. Many of us can thank CDN for that. With the Netflix idea on mind, let’s list all the benefits of using a CDN provider (for you and for your potential clients):
Vulnerability Discovered in SSL 3.0 – The stealth Poodle
SSL has been the matter of focus these pasts months and we can’t just say it’s finished. Vulnerability, this time discovered by Google Research Team is SSL 3.0. It’s still being used throughout the Web, While SSL 3.0 has already been around for almost 15 years, and nearly every browser supports it. The POODLE vulnerability is a weakness in version 3 of the SSL protocol that allows an attacker in a man-in-the-middle context to decipher the plain text content of an SSLv3 encrypted message. POODLE as an acronym for Padding Oracle On Downgraded Legacy Encryption, researchers have shown that because of the widespread support for this, an attacker can assume it will be easy to find a situation where an SSLv3 connection can be forced and put to use for capturing private data or cookies. Poodle What is being done? First runs this command to see if you are vulnerable or not. For Redhat Users: #!/bin/bash ret=$(echo Q | timeout 5 openssl s_client -connect "${1-`hostname`}:${2-443}" -ssl3 2> /dev/null) if echo "${ret}" | grep -q 'Protocol.*SSLv3'; then if echo "${ret}" | grep -q 'Cipher.*0000'; then echo "SSL 3.0 disabled" else echo "SSL 3.0 enabled" fi else echo "SSL disabled or other error" fi NOTE: This script takes the hostname of the server to check as the first argument and an optional port as the second. By default it will check the local system, port 443. What actions do you need to take? Developers/Sysadmins need to follow these recommendations in order to make this vulnerability non-exploitable. Disable SSL 3.0 support or disable SSL 3.0 CBC-mode ciphers. Implement the proper use of TLS_FALLBACK_SCSV to remediate the forced downgrade issue that is part of the vulnerability. ClickIT Customers Protected Any website or application server, running on hands of the team is already protected against this vulnerability. SSLv3 has been completely disabled for anyone in our managed services plan. If your server or website is still supporting SSLv3, don’t worry! You have always the ClickIT team available to help 24/7!
